Houses destroyed, families displaced yet again in Baglung

This year’s monsoon is causing even more chaos than the last year in different cities of Nepal. It has been reported that 5 houses have been displaced as a result of landslide . It happened today in Kathekhola village municipality of Baglung district due to the incessant rain. According to the District Police Office, Baglung, the families have been displaced after a landslide occurred in and above the house in Jiredi of Kathekhola Village Municipality-7. The landslide occurred exactly at a place called Jiredi.

Prem GC, the ward chairman said that the landslide came from the house of Chitra Bahadur Karki of Jiredi. The houses of some other inhabitants namely Bal Bahadur GC and Krishna GC of the same place are at highest risk of landslides. All family members are being relocated. Families are being taken to safer places at the moment. The rains and landslides however have not stopped.

The road network between the Baglung district headquarters and the locals is destroyed because of the disaster . Not just that but the landslides have hit different places namely Baglung-Kushmishera road, Baglung-Bareng road, Madhya Pahadi highway and all roads connecting the ward office and village settlements.

The houses were completely damaged due to the landslide. However, Nepal Police teams and have been mobilised in the disaster-hit area and are constantly on a lookout to help and assist the locals.
